Smolensk will host the Super Cup of the Central Federal District basketball: four teams and the memory of the Honored coach

In Smolensk, as part of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Association of the Interregional Coordination Center for Basketball of the Central Federal District (CFD), the CFD Super Cup among women's teams will be held for the first time. Competitions will be held from 25 to 26 September in the Palace of Sports "Anniversary". The tournament will be an annual event that will be held in different regions of the CFD.

Vasily Anokhin, Governor of the Smolensk Region, stressed that holding such a major sports event in the Youth Capital of Russia is not just a celebration of sports, but an opportunity to show the city as a territory of modern opportunities for young talents. He noted that the tournament is timed to the Day of Liberation of Smolensk from Nazi invaders, which is celebrated annually on September 25. This highlights the connection between the city’s history and its sporting traditions.

Special attention at the tournament is paid to the memory of Honored Coach of the RSFSR Gennady Semenovich Fomin, whose name bears the competition. President of the Basketball Federation of the Smolensk region Sergey Fomin said that in recent years women’s basketball in the region has gone from enthusiasm to the creation of a professional team “Atom” from Desnogorsk. Now the region has its own training school for athletes, and the tournament on the home parquet has become part of this chain of development.

For the trophy will argue the four strongest women's teams CFD:

"Energy", Ivanovo;

"Sparta and K," visible;

Spartak, Noginsk;

"Atom", Desnogorsk (Smolensk region).

The host of the site will be the Atom team.

Schedule of games:

september 25:*

14:00 - the first semifinal;

16:00-16:30 – opening ceremony;

16:30 - second semi-final.

september 26:*
