In Sochi, they are studying the possibility of placing a national center for training Russian national football teams. Experts are examining potential sites, and the final decision on the project is planned to be taken before the end of 2026.
According to the head of the city Andrey Prosginin, the issue was discussed at a meeting chaired by the State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia Olga Gatagova.
The advantages of Sochi are the mild climate, Olympic infrastructure and opportunities for year-round training. The head of the city also noted that holding fees at the Russian resort can be more convenient and economically profitable than foreign trips.
Now specialists conduct an environmental survey of territories that may be suitable for the placement of a sports facility. Results are expected by the end of the year, after which the authorities intend to decide on the further implementation of the project.
In Sochi, the federal base “South Sport” is already operating, where Russian teams in various sports are being trained.
Earlier it was reported that in Sochi veterans SVO began preparations for competitions in sledge hockey.
