CSKA's spontaneous victory at "Dynamo" showed the difference in the class of the two teams

CSKA won the tenth victory in a row, beating Dynamo.

On October 9, at the Arkady Chernyshev Stadium in Moscow, a regular match of the Kontinental Hockey League season-2026/2027 was held, in which the local Dynamo hosted CSKA. The meeting ended 5-2 in favor of the army.

The score in the match in the seventh minute was opened by CSKA forward Prokhor Poltapov, and in the 24th minute he scored a double. “Dynamo” played one puck by the efforts of Pavel Sheng in the 29th minute, but in the 35th minute Maxim Sorkin returned the guests the advantage of two goals. In the future, Maxim Mamin in the 36th minute increased the gap CSKA, and Nick Merkley in the 37th minute reduced the gap to a minimum. The final point in the meeting in the 51st minute was set by Maxim Sorkin, who issued a double and set the final score.

Thanks to this success, CSKA extended its winning streak to ten matches in a row. For Dynamo, this defeat was already the sixth in a row.

CSKA head coach Igor Nikitin called the game spontaneous, but praised the hockey players for being able to cope with the unpredictable course of the meeting. The mentor of the army noted that with the score 2: 0 and the majority series, his team had some importance, which is explained by psychology. According to the coach, this experience is very useful for players to learn how to react to unexpected situations on the ice. Igor Nikitin also admitted that there are problems when playing in the minority, stressing that they need to be solved, not hidden. Speaking about the difference in the first periods compared to the previous game against Dynamo, the specialist explained this by the fact that the last match took place after a difficult night flight and emotionally costly meetings with SKA and Dynamo Minsk. This time, a three-day break allowed the team to regain strength and emotions. The coach expressed satisfaction with how the players began to understand when to improve, although the learning process is still ongoing.

CSKA striker Maxim Mamin, who scored the fourth goal against Dynamo, admitted that he had long wanted to open the score for his goals for the army club after returning. The forward noted that he was helped by the precise action of Jeremy Roy, who found him free in front of goal, as well as the successful reflection of the puck from the stick, which deceived the goalkeeper. Mamin stressed that playing in conditions of frequent removals and constant swings in the game was not easy, but the team was able to withstand key episodes. The hockey player is happy with the current winning streak, but added that the team approaches each new match from a clean slate.
