The Voronezh team began a new home series of the regular championship of the VHL with a crushing defeat from guests from Kirovo-Chepetsk - 1: 5.
Voronezh approached the meeting on the rise: before that, they spent six games away, where they scored four victories with two defeats, and with 24 points kept in the leader group. "Olympia", which is headed by well-known in the VHL Mikhail Zvyagin, started the season unsuccessfully - six defeats in seven opening games - but then straightened out and left the bottom of the table.
The first period passed without goals, although the guests were much more active in the attack: 23 shots against 15 and 14 hits against 7. Goalkeeper Kirill Ustimenko helped the team several times, including when playing in the minority. "Buran" in most remembered only one acute moment - the throw of Vadim Fattakhov parried Alexei Noskov.
The account opened at the beginning of the second period: for throwing a stick, the goalkeeper of the guests received a bullit, and Svyatoslav Dorokhov implemented it. However, after two and a half minutes, "Olympia" rebounded - after Pavel Makhanovsky's sketch, the puck ricocheted from Putintsev flew into the net. Soon Voronezh received a numerical advantage, but the dangerous shots of Mikhail Nazarov and Kirill Maximov, who returned from injury, did not bring success.
The gross mistake of Egor Starkov in his zone turned into the second goal of Dyuryagin, and after 105 seconds Corbit powerfully threw from under Tsalpanov and himself finished the rebound. At the end of the period, the guests issued a rout: the goals of Zaitsev and the second goal of Dyuryagin were separated by only nine seconds, after which Ustimenko gave way to Artemy Gaidukov in the goal.
The final third of the picture did not change. Buran will have three more home matches in a row - on November 1, 4 and 6 against Izhstal, Toros and Hammer, respectively.
