The US authorities will lift sanctions against the Belarusian company Lakokraska and Bellesbumprom, said US special envoy John Cole. He assured that in the future the parties will discuss the easing of other sanctions. Belarus will release 25 prisoners.

“It is a great pleasure to be in this country again. We held our negotiations for a very long time. These negotiations will continue. We have made a lot of progress, from my point of view. And we will continue our joint work, said John Cole after talks with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

At the September 15 talks, John Cole also said that the US authorities appealed to Citibank with a request to unfreeze and return its assets to Belarus. In September last year, after negotiations in Minsk, the United States excluded eight Boeing owned by Belarus, allowing them to operate international flights, undergo maintenance and purchase components for airliners.

“Lakokraska” came under US sanctions in 2008 as a structure of the concern “Belneftekhim”. In December 2023, the US Treasury imposed sanctions against Bellesbumprom, a concern controlled by the Belarusian government.
