The commander of the 4th Flotilla of frigates Volker Kübsch handed Ute Niklas control of the frigate Rhineland-Palatinate from Captain Benedict Eichhorn. “I take command at an exciting and at the same time challenging time. This will require a lot of effort from the entire crew, said Ute Niklas.
Now "Rhineland-Palatinate" is in the shipyard. The first task for its crew is to return the frigate to full combat readiness, notes Die Zeit.
Ute Niklas served on the F125 class frigates and was the captain’s first assistant. She is familiar with the composition of the crew and the tasks that it has to perform. Prior to that, she served as an operational staff officer in the Operational Command at Schwilowsee, Brandenburg.
