On board the oil tanker Unity, arrested off the coast of India four months ago, there are 23 people. Among them are a citizen of Kazakhstan and two Egyptian citizens. The other 20 are Russian sailors. According to the captain of the ship, the food and water supplies delivered to them a month ago will not last until the end of September.

“The Consulate General of Russia in Kolkata is in touch with the captain of the ship and local authorities, the necessary assistance is provided,” the diplomatic mission said. They said they would visit the crew soon. At the same time, the consulate is trying to issue visas to sailors so that they can leave for Russia.

The tanker Unity, flying the flag of Cameroon, arrived in the Indian port of Paradeep with Russian oil on May 9. Two days later, the Odisha High Court arrested him over financial claims against the owner. Earlier, Tresta International FZE supplied the ship with fuel, for which it allegedly received only a fraction of the money. For fuel, including all interest and costs, the company demanded $ 423.8 thousand.
