The founder of WikiLeaks, Australian journalist Julian Assange for the first time in two years published a post on the social network X.

"I'm back," he wrote. The post was a response to a WikiLeaks account with his photo and the caption: "He's back.".

Assange's previous post in X was published on 28 June 2024, following his release from the British Belmarsh prison. It has been there since 2019.

WikiLeaks is a service that specializes in publishing classified and confidential information. In 2010-2011, the platform published official documents about the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Julian Assange faced 175 years in prison for publishing this data.

In the summer of 2024, Mr. Assange struck a deal with the US investigation, pleading guilty to one of 18 counts of conspiracy to obtain and disseminate classified information.

An American court sentenced him to a time already served in the UK, after which the US Department of Justice closed the criminal case, and Assange returned to Australia.
