General Carsten Breuer, inspector general of the Bundeswehr, called on German citizens to prepare for the defense of the country in the face of new modern threats. He said this at a security conference in Prague, reports Bild.
According to Breuer, the nature of modern conflicts has changed, and one army is not enough to ensure security. Military, civil society and industry must be brought together. “Without you, we soldiers are doomed to failure. But failure is not an option. “Failure would mean that our societies as we know them would be in mortal danger,” he said.
The head of the Bundeswehr drew attention to the experience of Ukraine in preparing a defense strategy, as well as the need to adapt flexibly to the rapid development of technologies. “Technology should not determine what we do. We need to define what we do with technology, explained Carsten Breuer.
NATO countries are preparing for a possible military clash with Russia, which German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius estimates could happen by 2029. Earlier, Bloomberg wrote that the German authorities are developing appropriate measures in the health care system in case of a large number of wounded in hospitals. At the same time, the Russian authorities have repeatedly assured that Moscow has no plans to attack the alliance.
