The Russian Foreign Ministry has expanded the list of EU representatives who are banned from entering the country. The measure was a response to the 21st package of sanctions against Russia.
The persons included in the list, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry, participated in the provision of military assistance to Ukraine, hindered maritime navigation in the interests of Russia, were responsible for the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions, advocated the illegal seizure of Russian state assets and other actions against Russia.
In addition, restrictive measures were introduced against “civil activists” who hold positions hostile to Russia, the press release notes. Representatives of the academic community of European countries, deputies of national parliaments of EU member states and the European Parliament who voted for anti-Russian resolutions and bills were also banned from entering Russia.
“Any further action by the European Union to expand anti-Russian unilateral sanctions will continue to receive a proper response from our side,” the statement said.
In July, the EU adopted the 21st package of sanctions, which provides for restrictions against the oil industry of Russia and Belarus, banks and payment systems, the Moscow Exchange and cryptocurrency infrastructure, the LNG market, the transport sector and the metallurgical industry. Now European countries are preparing sanctions against another 1,600 individuals and companies from Russia.
