On charges of involvement in the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moise in 2021 arrested another 18 people. They have been extradited to the U.S. pending trial, Southern District of Florida Attorney Reding Quinones said.

According to the prosecutor, a total of 30 people were charged. “Today is the next important phase in our pursuit of responsibility for the assassination of President Jovenel Moise. “Five years later, we are still bringing the defendants to American courts, and we are not done yet,” Quiñones said in a statement.

Jovenel Moise was assassinated at the presidential residence on July 7, 2021 at the age of 53. Some 20 people broke into the house and shot his wife Martin. The president's security guards did little to protect him, raising suspicions of a conspiracy surrounded by the president. In 2024, a court charged his widow and former Haitian Prime Minister Claude Joseph with murder.
