Afghan government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said Afghan forces would "give an appropriate response" to Pakistan's attack.
According to the Afghan TV channel TOLOnews, airstrikes hit a residential building in Kunar province in the morning. The owner of the house, his wife and daughter were killed. Four other family members were injured. In another border area, Paktik, one of the shells hit an empty house and the other hit a former shop. No casualties were reported.
Relations between the two neighboring countries deteriorated in 2021, when the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan. Islamabad accuses the Taliban of harboring militants from several terrorist organizations that regularly launch attacks against Pakistan.
