Belarus is not yet able to supply potash fertilizers to Western countries, because all the volumes it has contracted, said President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko. Last week, he spoke of a willingness to supply these fertilizers to the US.
Mr. Lukashenko raised this issue at a meeting with the head of the customs committee Vladimir Orlovsky. According to the Belarusian government, the country managed to reorient trade flows to the east. One of the evidence of this, the President called recent talks with representatives of the United States.
“Even if we wanted to put (potassium. – Kommersant) somewhere on other, Western markets, just these volumes are not – everything is contracted,” Alexander Lukashenko assured.
The US authorities began to ease sanctions against Belarus in 2025. From the sanctions list excluded including a large producer of potash fertilizers “Belaruskali”. In exchange, the Belarusian authorities began to release the prisoners. On September 15, Mr. Lukashenko met with the special envoy of the American President John Cole in Minsk.
