Kremlin: New U.S. Sanctions Don’t Help “Reanimate Relations” With Russia
The bill on new anti-Russian sanctions signed by US President Donald Trump will not help achieve a settlement in Ukraine, said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian president. The bill on new anti-Russian sanctions signed by US President Donald Trump will not help achieve a settlement in Ukraine, said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian president. According to him, the sanctions also do not contribute to the reanimation of bilateral relations between Moscow and Washington.
Peskov said that the Russian side is in constant contact with its trading partners. He said more than 30,000 sanctions had been imposed on Russia, but the country had "largely adapted" to them. As for the signing of this document, it is certainly something that does not contribute to the resuscitation of our bilateral relations. And also, of course, it is unlikely to contribute to more successful progress on the path of the Ukrainian settlement, the Kremlin spokesman said at a briefing.
Mr. Trump signed the law on “hellish sanctions” against Russia on September 19. The document gives the US president the right to impose duties of up to 100% on the goods of the five largest buyers of Russian energy carriers, as well as duties of up to 5000% on goods from Russia. The law gives the right to directly impose sanctions against Russian officials, banks and ships of the “shadow fleet”.
