The representative of the Kremlin separately noted an “important nuance”: as part of the exercises, NATO is working on the interception of merchant ships. Exercise Strike Warrior will be held from September 21 to October 9. More than thirty ships and aircraft will take part, the Royal Navy said on its website. Experts interviewed by Izvestia estimate that as part of the exercises, the unit is working on intercepting Russian submarines at the border of Iceland and the Faroe Islands, as well as blocking exits from the Baltic to the Atlantic.
