Three leading American media outlets — CNN, Politico and MS Now — have filed a lawsuit against US President Donald Trump. They dispute Mr Trump's recent decision to deny them access to the White House. The president accused the editors of these publications of publishing fakes about the activities of the American administration.

In a joint statement, CNN, Politico and MS Now noted that “the ban constitutes a direct violation of the First Amendment and a flagrant violation of fundamental constitutional principles.” The newspaper asks the federal court of the District of Columbia to immediately restore access to the White House.

“We have notified the authorities that we are filing a lawsuit to protect our First Amendment rights. We uphold the principle that the government should not decide what to report or what to publish to the press.

The White House and Donald Trump have not yet commented on the lawsuit.
