Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in China, which will be held by Chinese President Xi Jinping. At the same time, the Russian president intends to skip the summit of the “Big twenty” (G20) in the United States with the participation of American President Donald Trump. This was reported by Bloomberg, citing sources.
The APEC summit will be held from November 18 to 19 in Shenzhen. The G20 summit will take place on December 14-15 in Miami. According to sources close to the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin will participate in APEC for the first time since 2017. The likelihood of him joining the event in Florida is "extremely small," the sources note. Earlier, the Kremlin did not rule out the possibility of trilateral talks between the heads of the United States, Russia and China at the APEC summit, but such a meeting has not yet been planned.
According to Bloomberg sources, the Kremlin does not expect any progress in negotiations on the Russian-Ukrainian conflict before the summit of the “Big twenty”. In addition, the Russian leadership is increasingly disappointed in American negotiators — special envoys of the US President Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner.
