The armed group blocked the valve on the oil pipeline from the al-Sharara field to the port of al-Zawiya. This was reported by the National Petroleum Corporation (NOC).
As reported by NOC in Facebook (owned by Meta, which is recognized in Russia as extremist and banned), the actions of militants led to increased pressure on the lines and a sharp drop in production at one of the largest oil facilities in Libya. Reuters writes that daily production at Ash Sharar decreased by 200 thousand barrels to 100-105 thousand.
The company warned that the continuation of the block threatens a complete halt in production, the cessation of transportation and export of raw materials, as well as the shutdown of the refinery in Ez-Zawiya. In this case, NOC will be forced to declare a state of force majeure, which will lead to an increase in state spending on the import of petroleum products.
