The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has begun restoring previously interrupted flights to the northeastern United States. This was announced by US Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy.
“Telecommunication lines have been restored and all airport operations in the northeast are resumed,” Duffy wrote on X. The minister said the delays would take some time to resolve.
The cause of the failure was accidental damage to the fiber optic cable by the construction team of the railway company Amtrak, which caused communication problems. This led to the suspension of flights to Philadelphia, Newark and Teterboro airports and the delay of hundreds of flights.
