The Czech Foreign Ministry has tightened the rules for the movement of diplomats from Russia. They must now report plans to cross the Czech state border the day before the trip, indicating the purpose of arrival, place of residence, place of stay and mode of transport.

“If every Czech diplomat in Russia has to report their movements since June, then naturally the same will apply to Russian diplomats here,” Czech Foreign Minister Petr Macinka told ParlamentnListy.cz. He stressed that this is a response to the actions of Russia.

The Russian Embassy in Prague and its consular department continue to work in the Czech Republic. Since 2022, the activities of the Consulate General in the Czech Karlovy Vary and Brno have ceased.

In June, the Russian Foreign Ministry introduced a notification procedure for employees of diplomatic missions and consulates of EU member states when crossing the border. Diplomats must indicate personal data, itinerary, dates of entry and exit, information about transport. Earlier, the EU restricted the movement of Russian diplomats within the EU.
