New York prosecutors have opened an investigation into Darren Indike and Richard Kahn. For many years they worked for financier Jeffrey Epstein, convicted of pimping and sex trafficking, and after his death became his executors. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing sources. It is not known exactly what charges were brought against Indike and Kahn. The U.S. Department of Justice, in response to a request from the WSJ, declined to confirm that the investigation was ongoing.
Darren Indike worked for Epstein for many years, and Richard Kahn worked as his accountant. They have repeatedly stated that they knew nothing about Epstein’s crimes and were not involved in them.
WSJ sources say that in the past few months, New York prosecutors have been requesting documents related to Indike and Kahn, including financial statements and emails, and making appointments with potential witnesses. Witnesses interviewed said they were questioned about the potential roles of Indike and Kahn in companies set up to cover up Epstein's crimes and in dubious transactions, including payments to women involved in the sex trade.
Earlier this year, the US Department of Justice published the so-called Epstein files. Numerous scandals, resignations and investigations followed.
