The Ottawa City Council unanimously approved a proposal to begin the process of renaming Trump Avenue in the Central Park area of the Canadian capital. According to CTV News, in the area since its construction, street names refer to New York, and the current President of the United States was previously in New York a well-known developer.

The public consultation process with the residents of Trump Avenue will be led by City Council member Riley Brockington. Residents will be able to choose a new name, both related to New York and neutral. The final version will be submitted for approval by the city council in 2027.

This is not the first attempt to rename the street. During Donald Trump's first term as president, residents of Trump Avenue already voted on the issue. Then the votes were equally divided: 21 households voted in favor, 21 against, and another 20 abstained, because of which the name of the street decided to keep.
