This year is crucial for the development of China and the United States, Xi said. The two countries should make efforts in the same direction “to promote the establishment of stable relations characterized by cooperation as the basis, competition within the framework, overcome differences and peaceful prospects,” the Chinese leader stressed.
“Our two countries should be partners, not rivals. The people of China and the United States have long maintained friendly relations, and our interests are closely intertwined, Xi said, pointing out that “the great renaissance of the Chinese nation and the goal of making America great again can go hand in hand.”.
Xi Jinping’s state visit to the United States will last until September 25. The meeting with Donald Trump is scheduled for Thursday morning local time (second half of Thursday Moscow time). The talks are expected to include trade, competition in technology, and the US-led war in the Middle East.
