Former British Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has filed a lawsuit against Thames Valley police over searches at his estate related to an investigation into his ties to American financier Jeffrey Epstein. This was reported by Politico and The Telegraph.
Prince Andrew was arrested in February 2026. Police raided his home at Sandringham Estate and his former residence at the Royal Lodge in Windsor. Prince Andrew himself was sent for questioning, which lasted more than 12 hours. He was released on bail, and the investigation continued, but so far has not brought any results. Police are investigating him on multiple counts, from abuse of office and passing classified government data to Epstein to other sexual offences. The former prince himself denies his guilt.
Lawyers for the former British prince plan to test whether search warrants issued by an Old Bailey judge at the request of Thames Valley police were legal. According to The Telegraph, a closed-door hearing will be held at the High Court this week to discuss the possible release of court documents relating to the proceedings. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's lawsuit marks the first time since the trial of Charles I in 1649 that a member of the royal family has challenged the legality of prosecuting himself.
