Turkey and Pakistan will deploy military forces in Saudi Arabia to defend the kingdom. This was reported by the press service of the Turkish Foreign Ministry following an emergency meeting of the Strategic Committee on Political and Defense Affairs of the Mecca Alliance. They discussed the security of Saudi Arabia.
Turkey and Pakistan praised the professionalism and combat readiness of the Saudi armed forces. “The parties also condemned in the strongest terms the attempted attacks on Mecca and Medina, as well as the ongoing attacks on cities and civilian and economic facilities in the kingdom,” the statement said.
The joint defense agreement was signed on August 7 in Saudi Mecca. It enshrines the principle of collective response: an armed attack on any of the three countries will be considered an attack on the other parties to the agreement.
In mid-September, the military command of Saudi Arabia reported the interception and destruction of a Houthi drone on the approach to Mecca. Air defense forces defused the threat before the drone entered the city's airspace.
