Lithuanian parliament votes again for nuclear weapons deployment amendment
The Sejm of Lithuania, in a second vote, approved an amendment to the Constitution abolishing the ban on the deployment of nuclear weapons in the country. The final vote on the amendment is scheduled for January 12, 2027, LRT reports.

In the first and second votes for the amendment voted 99 and 106 MPs, respectively. At least 94 votes are required in each of the three votes to amend the basic law.
The Lithuanian Defense Ministry said the amendment was necessary to use NATO’s full deterrence potential.
The head of the parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, Remigijus Motuzas, previously pointed out that the vast majority of NATO countries do not have restrictions on the deployment of nuclear weapons, including Latvia, Estonia and Poland.
