Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed to hold a meeting at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in China. At the same time, it is not yet known what “window” in the schedule of the summit will be chosen for negotiations. This was reported by Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.
When asked about the trilateral meeting of the leaders of Russia, China and the United States at the summit, Mr. Ushakov said that such negotiations have not yet been worked out. “The idea is in the air. Everyone knows about it, journalists know about it, but we also know about it. Honestly, no one has been engaged in such a practical elaboration of this meeting so far, said Mr. Ushakov.
The presidential aide said that the issue with the trilateral meeting will become clearer when the Chinese leadership will make the schedule of the summit. According to him, the schedule is likely to provide “special windows for bilateral meetings, and possibly trilateral”.
The APEC summit will be held from November 18 to 19 in Shenzhen. The Russian president supported holding a trilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump and Xi Jinping at the APEC summit in China. To do this, it is necessary to determine the agenda, Vladimir Putin noted.
