In South Korea, the fifth launch of the three-stage rocket “Nuri”, designed to observe the surface of the Earth. The rocket reached its target orbit and launched all spacecraft 20 minutes after launch. This was reported by the Korean Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) on social network X.
"Nuri" launched from the Naro cosmodrome in the south of the Korean Peninsula at 12:25 local time (at 06:25 GMT). On board were a record for the country 15 satellites — 10 microsatellites and five Neonsat vehicles weighing less than 100 kg each. They will be able to transmit images of the peninsula’s surface, disaster zones and national security facilities three times a day. In total, the Neonsat group consists of 10 vehicles - the remaining ones are planned to be launched before the end of the space program in 2027.
South Korea created its first space rocket Naro-1 jointly with Russia. "Nuri" became the first in the history of the country launch vehicle, developed entirely independently. It was first launched in 2021.
