According to the newspaper, the mansion belonged to the Cossack Necmettin Efendi. According to Karar, the owner was one of the chief judges in the Ottoman Empire. The mansion was built about 200 years ago. It is now owned by blogger and entrepreneur Derin Mermerci.
The ferry crashed into the mansion at about 23:30 on October 6. The passenger ferry made a tour of the Bosphorus and for an unknown reason began to drift towards the mansion. First, he hit a yacht moored next to the mansion, and then the house itself. The owner said he would seek damages through court. According to her, the berth of the mansion was destroyed, and her children suffered psychological trauma.
