Turkey will create a national analogue of the American system Starlink. The satellite network of 198 low-orbit satellites is called Astralink. The first of them will be put into orbit in the next two years. The official launch of the project was announced by Aselsan at the International Astronautical Congress.
“This is a project where we, so to speak, declare our independence in space,” Aselsan CEO Ahmet Akyol said.
The satellite network should provide high-speed and sustainable Internet to both Turkey and its friendly countries. Priority for the use of Astralink will be the military and state spheres.
Astralink is fully developed in Turkey, with chips, software algorithms and antenna receivers designed by local defense company Aselsan. The development of the project began at the end of 2025. In Turkish, the project is called Gokgabi (God of Heaven).
