Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. They also agreed to meet on the sidelines of the CIS summit in Turkmenistan, the press service of the Belarusian president told BelTA.

According to the press service, during the conversation, the leaders of the two countries touched upon “particularly topical issues on the agenda.” They intend to continue discussing certain issues of bilateral cooperation and the international situation during the meeting. Mr Lukashenko also congratulated his Russian counterpart on his birthday. Other details are not given. The Kremlin has not yet reported the conversation.
Last time Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko met on June 26 at Valdai in the Novgorod region. In particular, they discussed the agenda of the Union State, trade and economic cooperation, as well as regional security issues. Mr Putin and Mr Lukashenko will visit Turkmenistan on October 8-9 to participate in the CIS summit.
