On October 7, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with British Trade Minister Anas Sarwar. Kazakhstan and the UK are linked by constructive political dialogue and active contacts at various levels. I am convinced that we have significant potential for further enhancing cooperation, the Kazakh leader said at the meeting.
In response, Anas Sarwar stressed that Britain and Kazakhstan are united by a commitment to open and trusting partnership, innovation, mutual trust and free trade. “In our relations with our strategic partners, which, of course, includes Kazakhstan, we intend to achieve concrete practical results corresponding to the high level of our relations,” said the head of the British Ministry of Trade.
The agreement on strategic partnership between the UK and Kazakhstan, signed in 2024, involves expanding ties in trade, investment, development of education, infrastructure, extraction of critical minerals. In June, the parties also signed an agreement on military cooperation, including the training of Kazakh military in British universities.
