Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that an Azerbaijani citizen who entered a house in the Armenian village of Shaki should serve at least part of his sentence on Armenian territory. At the same time, he stressed that a criminal case has also been opened against the man in Azerbaijan.
“Definitely and undeniably, what happened in Armenia is a criminal offence. The case must be investigated and sent to court. The court, in turn, must render a decision that should come into force, and the serving of the sentence – at least part of it – should be implemented in Armenia. What is the problem?, Nikol Pashinyan said during a session of parliament (quoted by News.am). So he answered the question of the opposition deputy about the fate of the detained Azerbaijani.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia, on October 1, an Azerbaijani soldier entered one of the houses of the village of Shaki in the Syunik region of Armenia. When the owners of the house found him, he opened fire and wounded the woman. He then fled to another home but was found and detained by law enforcement. He is charged with illegal border crossing, illegal arms trafficking and violation of the inviolability of his home.
