Interior Minister Laurent Nunez presented statistics on the ongoing school protests in France. This is reported by BFM TV.
According to the minister, 761 police officers, 215 students and 89 teachers have been injured since the protests began as of Tuesday evening, October 6, and 6,629 arrests have been made. The National Police Inspectorate General has 18 cases pending.
At the same time, Laurent Nunez noted that talking about police repression is an exaggeration. There is no excessive use of force by police if demonstrations remain peaceful, he said.
Speeches of schoolchildren and students with the participation of teachers, parents and trade unions have been ongoing since mid-September. On October 6, authorities estimated the number of protesters across the country at 266,000, while trade unions put the figure at 450,000.
