According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), part of the UN structure, in the period from August 1 to October 4 due to intense fighting in Yemen, more than 184,000 people were forced to leave their homes, most of them since the beginning of September. During the week from September 27 to October 3, almost 21.8 thousand people were forced to change their place of residence, which is 26% more than a week earlier. About 4,500 people left their homes on October 4. They all need food, shelter and other basic humanitarian assistance.

“As the conflict escalates, more and more people are caught in a terrifying cycle of forced displacement, living in fear for their lives and not knowing what the future holds,” said IOM Director-General Amy Pope.

As the situation remains volatile, another forced displacement is possible in the coming days, IOM warned.
