A majority of German respondents called Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s rule a failure and said he should resign. This is evidenced by the results of a survey company Ipsos for the magazine Der Spiegel, writes sb.by.

According to TASS, 48% of respondents fully agreed with the thesis “Chancellorship of Friedrich Merz has failed”. Another 19 percent of respondents said they would rather agree with this assessment. Thus, 67% of German citizens to some extent believe that Merz failed in his job as chancellor.
Participants were also asked to comment on the thesis that “Friedrich Merz should resign as chancellor and head of the Christian Democratic Union.” 44% of respondents fully agreed with this statement, another 14% said that they rather agree. Only 11% of respondents do not believe that Merz should resign.
The study was conducted from September 30 to October 4. A little over two thousand people were interviewed. The margin of error is estimated at 2.2 percentage points.
