French presidential candidate Roussel: arms supplies to Kiev draw EU into conflict

The supply of European weapons to Ukraine is increasingly drawing EU countries into the conflict. This opinion was expressed by the candidate for President of France in the elections in 2027, the national Secretary of the French Communist Party Fabienne Roussel, reports sb.by.

According to TASS, the politician told France Inter radio station: “The choice in favor of supplying offensive weapons to Ukraine, weapons that can reach Moscow and points in the interior of the country, leads to the fact that the EU and France are increasingly parties to the conflict.”.
Roussel criticized this position and stressed that the actions of the EU, in particular France, prevent the de-escalation of the conflict.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Paris will continue to support Kiev. The Russian authorities have repeatedly stressed that pumping Kiev with money and weapons will not reduce Moscow’s resolve and will not change the course of the SMD.
The first round of the French presidential election is scheduled for April 18, 2027. If neither candidate wins more than 50 percent of the vote on that day, the two candidates with the highest voter support will take part in the second round on May 2. French President Emmanuel Macron will not be able to run in 2027 after his second term due to the restrictions prescribed in the Constitution.
