Norway's Defense Minister: Kingdom's accession to EU hardly discussed

The possibility of Norway joining the European Union is not discussed. This was stated by the Minister of defense of the country Toure Sannvik, writes sb.by.

According to TASS, the head of the military department said: “Discussions on this issue in Norway are almost not conducted.” There will always be talk of Norway joining the EU, but again, we will see how the situation develops when we are not in such a critical situation as we are now with Russia.

Sannvik also said that Norway and the EU have close cooperation and the question of how to strengthen it even more, including in the field of security, continues to be discussed.

Norway has refused to join the EU twice. In the 1972 referendum, 53.5 percent of the population opposed joining the community, and in the 1994 referendum, about 52.2 percent. More than half of EU residents oppose accelerated European integration of Ukraine
