According to the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the IKI RAS, exactly the same number of flares were recorded on May 5, 2022 and December 10, 2024. The threshold of 30 flares per day Moscow time Sun in the XXI century has not yet crossed.
The uniqueness of the event is that all 29 outbreaks on November 7 occurred in one place - in one group of sunspots. In previous cases, they were distributed: in May 2022, two active centers gave them, and in December 2024, five groups of spots were given at once.
On all record dates, the outbreaks were classified as C and M categories, meaning they were weak and medium in power. According to experts of the laboratory, such a regime can be considered favorable for the Earth: instead of one or two extremely strong explosions, the star spends energy on many events of lower power.
The laboratory also explained that the number of outbreaks per day depends on the time zone. If you go from Moscow to world time, the threshold of 30 solar flares once crossed: on May 5, 2022, world time recorded 32 events.
