According to TASS, citing the Nobel Committee on Physics of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the scientist was awarded the prize “for his decisive contribution to the creation of the IceCube neutrino observatory and the discovery of high-energy neutrinos of astrophysical origin.” Nobel Prize in Medicine awarded for discoveries in optogenetics
