The fighting in Yemen has displaced more than 216,000 people. It's from sb.by.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said:
- Fighting and mass displacement are exacerbating humanitarian problems in Yemen.
Since the beginning of August, more than 216,000 people have been forced to leave their homes, including more than 172,000 residents of Taiz province. The situation in the province is of “particular concern” with reports that “the closure of key roads impedes the movement of civilians, commercial supplies and delivery of humanitarian assistance.” Restrictions on access and scarcity of resources "complicate humanitarian operations." Rising commodity prices and fuel shortages are jeopardizing “the smooth operation of vital health and water services.”.
OCHA recalled the increasing civilian casualties. According to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, at least 54 civilians have died since the beginning of August, half of them children. Another 171 people were injured, including 107 women and children. We call on all parties to respect international humanitarian law, protect civilians and civilian objects, ensure the safe movement of civilians, and guarantee safe, rapid and unhindered humanitarian access to people in need.
