According to TASS, citing the DPA agency, after passing security control, the man told an airport employee that an explosive device was in his luggage. In this regard, law enforcement agencies announced a police operation in the aviation security zone. People in the terminal were evacuated, and the reception and dispatch of aircraft were completely suspended between 16:30 and 18:00 local time.
The bomb threat was not confirmed. According to the police, during the search of the territory and check of luggage, no dangerous items were found. The attacker, who was going to fly to Hurghada (Egypt), was removed from the flight. A criminal case was opened against him on suspicion of violating public order by threatening to commit crimes. He was released.
According to the airport, the incident affected about 3,000 people and 29 flights: 9 of them were completely canceled, another 9 were diverted to other airports (mainly Nuremberg and Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden), and 11 were delayed for up to three hours. Due to the evacuation, all passengers in the terminals had to be checked again, and it took some time before the situation fully normalized.
