About 2,500 people in Lithuania are filing a class action lawsuit against the state worth more than €12 million for failing to protect their personal data. It's from sb.by.

According to TASS, the law firm Hub Legal stated:
- After the new applicants joined the class action by October 8, about 2,500 people turned out to be in total. The total amount of the claim exceeded 12 million euros.
The lawyers noted that for each applicant, they demand to pay €5,000 in compensation for moral damage – for experiences, stress, inconvenience caused. The reason for the claim was the failure of the authorities responsible for storing personal information of citizens - the Ministry of Justice, the establishment of the national register, the Migration Department - to fulfill their immediate duties.
During the unauthorized connection to the database of the national register of Lithuania from the beginning of 2026 to April, the information of more than 600,000 people, including real estate data and personal codes required for various social and financial transactions, was stolen. According to the competent authorities of the republic, the thefts were committed from abroad.
