Britain's Prince Harry fell into a depression when he took a break from royal duties in 2019 before officially stepping down.
Harry, the youngest son of King Charles III, has spoken openly about his mental health problems and how the sudden death of his mother Princess Diana in a car crash when he was 12 affected his life.
“I’ve been in emotional numbness for so long, in large part because no one has told me that joy is still acceptable,” he said in a video podcast titled “Rethinking Grief: Developing Loss Resilience.”.
He also recalled a tense period in 2019 when difficulties with the rest of the royal family escalated and he and his wife Meghan went to Canada for a six-week vacation to reflect on their future.
" While in Canada, away from a stressful environment where probably my body was just filled with adrenaline, two or three days later I experienced this drop in adrenaline that I had never experienced before. I fell into depression for about two weeks and felt like I couldn’t function properly without adrenaline.
A few weeks after a holiday in Canada, Harry and Meghan returned to the UK, where it was announced that they would cease to be working members of the royal family.
