Day late: Earth survives second magnetic storm in autumn
Scientists IKI RAS reported the end of the second magnetic storm in autumn. The Earth has returned to the green zone, although the impact of the coronal hole is still ongoing.

The second magnetic storm this fall, which reached levels from G1 (weak) to G2 (moderate), has ended. This is with reference to the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Institute of Space Research (IKI) RAS reports Sputnik.
According to experts, the geomagnetic situation on Earth has returned to normal – to the “green zone”. A geomagnetic storm caused by a medium-sized coronal hole hit the planet almost a day late. Its latest spike was recorded today at around 08:00 Minsk time. Although the impact of the solar wind from the coronal hole is still ongoing, the peak intensity has already passed, and the resumption of violent activity is unlikely.
This is only the second such event in the last two months: the previous weak G1 storm was recorded on September 8. In general, September on the Sun was calm: the number of flares, as well as the number and strength of magnetic storms decreased sharply.
