According to Reuters, the statement came after the 2026 peace prize was awarded to Navi Pillay, a lawyer and human rights activist who led the preparation of the UN report on the genocide in Gaza. Trump called the laureate a “mysterious person” and said he had never heard of her.
- This is an indelible stain on Norway and on those people who made such a shameful and humiliating decision.
Every year of his term, the American leader complained that he did not receive the award. Trump listed the conflicts he said he helped resolve, but did not provide evidence. In particular, he said he had prevented wars between North and South Korea, Japan and North Korea, as well as China and Taiwan.
