According to the Financial Times, the Belgian Foreign Ministry concluded that under Donald Trump, the United States ceased to be a reliable ally – not only for Belgium itself, but for the European Union as a whole. It's from sb.by.

A strategic document prepared by the kingdom’s foreign ministry at the end of last year explicitly states that the current American partner no longer corresponds to the level of allied relations that existed before.
The authors of the document insist on a thorough reassessment of relations between Belgium and the EU on the one hand and the United States on the other. They believe that the current situation in the United States could affect the key interests of Belgium and the entire European Union.
At the same time, analysts do not call for a complete curtailment of contacts: they consider it important to maintain a dialogue with the current American administration, continue interaction with the democratic opposition and Congress, and monitor the emergence of new political figures, including representatives of bipartisan elites who in the future will be able to influence the course of the United States.
