In the Gaza Strip, due to heavy rains, a critical humanitarian situation has developed: camps for displaced persons have been flooded. According to the representative of the civil defense service of the Palestinian enclave Mahmoud Bassal, in the tent camps in the lowlands, the water rose to a meter — many refugees are forced to spend the night in the open air, writes sb.by.

According to TASS, Mahmoud Bassal called for urgent measures: assistance should be provided by the guarantor countries of the peace settlement (USA, Egypt, Qatar and Turkey), as well as the UN. According to him, people vitally need insulated tents, prefabricated houses, warm clothes, heaters and construction equipment – it is needed to clear rubble and roads.
Of particular concern is the risk of collapse of buildings: soil erosion and flooding already lead to casualties. In particular, in Deir Balach, a woman and three children died due to the collapse of the wall of a house.
According to Maan, on November 7, downpours damaged more than 70,000 tents. The hardest-hit camps were in the Gaza seaport area, as well as in Jabalia, Beit Lahia (in the north), Deir Balah and Nuseirat (in the central part of the enclave). Preliminary damage to the temporary camp infrastructure is estimated at $3 million. Japan has created a new national disaster management agency
