In Germany, the student movement intends to declare a strike in universities on November 20

Student Association Gen Z Regelt! Studis (Generation Z Decides! Students) will join the pan-European protests and stage large-scale strikes in German universities on November 20. This is reported by DPA, writes sb.by.

According to TASS, activists set themselves the task of suspending the educational process at universities as much as possible. More than 90 delegates from 35 German universities came to the constituent meeting of the movement. The final decision on holding the action will be taken at general student meetings, which will be held in a number of universities before the scheduled date. The organizing committee emphasizes that they are counting not on individual small speeches, but on mass solidarity – so that hundreds of students in each university vote to stop classes.
The main purpose of the strikes is to put coordinated pressure on the federal government. Among the key requirements are to significantly increase state funding for education, prohibit short-term employment contracts with academic staff, introduce a wealth tax, completely abandon military research at universities, and dismiss German Chancellor and CDU leader Friedrich Merz.
The group is positioning itself as the student wing of the broader Gen Z regelt movement. At the end of October, the movement held a series of major demonstrations across Germany, and on November 20 announced new demonstrations in 34 cities. Protesters also demand no return of conscription, increased investment in education, health care and climate protection, and greater restraint on the rising cost of living.
