Analysts of the Federal Statistical Office of Germany predicted a decrease in the indicator by an average of only 1%. In July, the volume of industrial orders on a monthly basis increased by 3.2% (the indicator was revised upwards). At the same time, compared to August 2025, the volume of orders increased by 2.7%. Such a drop in the indicator in monthly terms, explained in the Ministry, due to a sharp reduction in the number of large orders, including in the defense sector. Among the reasons – significantly reduced the volume of large contracts for the supply of military equipment, aircraft, ships and trains.
Excluding large orders, the volume of revenues in the German manufacturing industry in August decreased by only 0.1% compared to July. Experts stressed that large single contracts had distorted the overall statistical picture in previous months. In less volatile three-month terms (June-August), order volume increased by 1.3% compared to the previous three-month period. Excluding large orders, this figure lost 2.6%.
